The beloved fun-for-all-ages Kings County Fair has come and gone for its sixth consecutive year of fun, funnel cakes, and carnival rides.
Returning thrill-seekers were not disappointed by the array of roller coasters.
“I’m really afraid of heights, so anything to me is scary,” said Bianca Gala, a high school sophomore who returned for her second year at the fair held at Aviator Sports and Events Center on May 22. “I had to step outside of my comfort zone.”
Gala and her friends rode nearly every ride, and the student said The Claw was her favorite, offering stomach-turning drops and rocking motions.
Some preferred the wilder attractions, like the lions and tigers an animal wrangler brought out in a cage for observation. While they weren’t allowed to touch the performing lions, fair-goers could pay a $5 donation to pet the smaller creatures.
“I touched a snake,” said Disirae Decoo, who enjoyed her first time at the fair. “It was weird but cool — weird in a good way.”
Gala and Decoo both say they will be returning next year for another summer of fun at the two-week carnival.
“I had a lot of fun with my friends,” said Gala. “It was a great time and great vibes.”
