Bagel burglar
A thief broke into a Bedford Avenue bagel store on July 26 and stole $1,500 — but no bagels.
The thief entered The Bagel Store, near N. Third Street, after midnight, unlocking a padlock on the store’s side door with a key.
When the store’s owner returned at 4:20 am, he found the key still in its lock. The register inside the shop was empty.
Shoot out
A gunman shot a 26-year-old man in front of his home on Frost Street on Aug. 1.
The victim was outside the abode near Morgan Avenue at 1:50 am when a perp shot him in his upper left arm. The shooter remains at large.
Motor works
An easy riding thief broke into a N. 14th Street clothing store, grabbing jeans, bags, sunglasses and helmets on July 20.
The thief entered through an unlocked side door of an adjoining warehouse on Berry Street at around 3 pm, punched a hole in the drywall to gain access to the clothing store, Genuine Motorworks.
When the store’s owner returned on July 27, he noticed that the clothing was missing.
Laptops gone
Thieves broke into two northside buildings last week, stealing computers.
In the first incident, a thief entered a N. Henry Street apartment on July 25, taking a woman’s laptop and camera. The thief entered the building near Richardson Street after 6 pm and grabbed the victim’s property. When the tenant returned at 11:45 pm, she noticed that the window was open and her stuff was missing.
The second crime was two days later, when a thief broke into a N. Fifth Street apartment and stole a man’s laptop and game system. The apartment, which is near Berry Street, was unlocked when the thief entered after 7:30 am.
Basket ball
An athletic thief broke into American Playground on Noble and Franklin Streets in July 28 and stole several basketballs and handballs from lockers inside the park.
The thieves unbolted the locked park after it closed at 9 pm, and clipped a storage locker inside the park. After taking $60 worth of balls, the perps fled.
Realty fight
A would-be burglar beat up a security guard inside a N. Sixth Street construction site on July 31, but was quickly collared.
The burglar broke into the site near Berry Street at 3:20 am when he encountered the security guard. A fight ensued and the thug punched the guard in the right side of his face, causing bleeding and swelling.
The thug was arrested a few hours later.
Purse grab
A thief stole a woman’s purse as she was sitting on her Diamond Street stoop on July 25.
The bag-grabber approached the woman at 12:40 am, asking for a light. He then snatched her purse and ran down Meserole Avenue. The victim chased the thief for a block, but could not catch up with him.
Rim job
A thief stole tires and rims off a Honda on Leonard Street overnight on July 26.
The owner told cops that she’d left the car near Bayard Street at around 9:30 pm. When she returned at 8:30 am, the wheels were gone.
Skate camera
A skater who hoped to catch his fancy moves on camera ended up losing his video device to the thief who offered to film him on Aug. 1.
The hot dog was doing tricks on Bayard and Lorimer streets at around 4:50 pm when he asked another man to capture it all on film. But when the skater was distracted, the man ran off with the camera.
