Tow-tally suspicious

A jerk swiped more than $5,000 and some Chinese cigarettes from a car parked on Ninth Street on July 24.

The 53-year-old victim told cops he got into a car accident at 3 am, so a towing company moved his black Lincoln to an auto repair shop near Second Avenue while he was at the hospital.

He went to the shop eight hours later — and discovered $5,024, a pack of smokes, and a fruit knife missing from the console of his car.

Missing Macs

A perp stole two laptops, an iPod, and some jewelry from an apartment on Sixth Avenue on July 29.

The 47-year-old victim told cops he left his home near Fourth Street at 4 pm, went out with friends, and then came back around 9 pm. That’s when he discovered his place ransacked and two Mac laptops, an iPod, and some jewelry gone — with no sign of forced entry.

Volkswagen smash

A brazen crook smashed the window of a car parked on Fourth Avenue on July 25 — and took off some credit cards left inside.

The 31-year-old victim told cops she left her purse, with the cards inside, on the floor of a black Volkswagen that she parked at Staples near Third Street at 6 pm.

She went shopping, came back 10 minutes later, and discovered the front window smashed and her purse gone.

Two-wheeled crooks

Two teens on bikes swiped a cellphone from a woman on Sackett Street on July 29.

The 31-year-old victim told cops she was talking on her phone near Nevins Street at 10 pm, when a two teenagers rolled up on bikes.

“Give me your phone!” one of them yelled, so she handed it over and they both peddled away.

Trucked up

A thief took more than $1,000 in cash from a truck parked on 13th Street between sometime between July 22 and July 26.

The victim told cops he left $1,119 behind the seat of a delivery truck parked at Preferred Beverage near Fifth Avenue at 4:40 pm, then came back four days later and discovered it gone.

Biker bandit

Two thieves stole a cellphone from a woman on Berkeley Place on July 25.

The 35-year-old victim told cops she was on the phone near Eighth Avenue at 12:42 am when two men approached her from behind, one of whom was riding a white mountain bike. One of the crooks then grabbed her iPhone and they both fled.

Ohio no-no

A quick-moving perp swiped a wallet containing cash and an Ohio driver’s license from a car parked on 10th Street on July 22.

The 24-year-old victim told cops she set her wallet on top of a car near Fourth Avenue at 11 am, then unloaded some items and came back 15 minutes later. That was enough time for the thief to grab her wallet — and the driver’s license and $82 inside.

Rough ride

A jerk drove off with a motorcycle parked on 12th Street on July 20.

The 49-year-old victim told cops he parked his red 2008 Ducat motor bike near Fifth Avenue at 7 pm, came back three days later, and discovered it gone.
