The Brooklyn Paper gets results.

State typographers took liberties with three Gowanus Expressway signs pointing drivers to the Hugh Carey Tunnel, starting the foot of the lowercase “y” that ends “Carey” at the level of the rest of the letters.

Without a Care-Y: This bizarre mistake hung above the Gowanus Expressway for weeks.

That changed after we published a story about the sign and, by Wednesday, a patch appeared, fixing the problem.

It is all moot, of course, because everybody still calls the tube the Battery Tunnel.

Signed off: The city fixed the signs on Wednesday.
