De-vice squad
Three rapscallions — one impersonating a police officer — beat up a guy and stole his phone when he tried to call the cops on them at the corner of New Utrecht Avenue and 74th Street in Bensonhurst on Sept. 20, police reported.
The trio approached the victim at 5:10 am, and one of the toughs tried to sell the victim cocaine, NYPD officials said. When the victim declined, the same tough who offered up the drugs told the victim he was a detective, though he displayed no badge, a report states.
When the victim called 911 on the treacherous trio, they descended on him and took his phone, then fled the scene, according to law enforcement officials.
Posse’s on Bay Parkway
Five brutes beat up a woman and stole her bag on the corner of Bay Parkway and 71st Street in Gravesend on Sept. 12, officers reported.
The 42-year-old victim was walking to the store when the fearsome five-some ran up from behind, police said. One tried to grab her bag, and when she didn’t let go, two others punched her in the face and chest before wrestling the purse from her grip and fleeing, according to a police report.
The bag contained $35, credit cards, and an iPhone, the NYPD said. The woman waited until Sept. 19 to report the crime, Police Department sources said.
Robber clobbered
Police arrested a guy who they say took a beating from a store clerk when he tried to rob a Bath Avenue laundromat of $215 at knifepoint on Sept. 17.
Cops believe the man entered the shop at the corner of Bay 17th Street in Bath Beach at 12:20 am and asked the clerk about the store’s hours of operation. He left, and returned minutes later with a large kitchen knife, demanding the clerk fill a laundry bag with dough, according to the authorities.
The worker complied, but as the accused was trying to dismantle a security camera, the clerk smacked him in the face with a night stick, breaking his nose, police said. The suspect ran and jumped into a vehicle that sped off on Bath Avenue, according to a police report.
A responding officer picked up the suspect a block away on Bay 16th Street between Bath and Cropsey avenues and found the knife hidden in his sock, police said. The alleged robber suffered a broken nose and cuts to his head, and paramedics took him to Lutheran Medical Center for treatment, a report states.
Roaming fee
Four good-for-nothings mugged a guy for his cellphone at the corner of W. 10th Street and Avenue S in Gravesend on Sept. 17, officers said.
The victim was walking home at 3 pm when the quarrelsome quartet threw him to the ground, went through his pockets, and took his phone, police said. Paramedics took the man to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment, a report states.
