Shoplifters
Thieves hit an Avenue U department store in two separate incidents this week.
• Cops busted three women who they say stole merchandise from an Avenue U department store on May 2.
Police say the trio entered the store between E. 55th Street and Flatbush Avenue around 4 pm and placed several items into a baby stroller. Cops picked up the women several hours later, according to the report.
• A nogoodnik lifted a woman’s wallet she accidentally left on a store counter on May 6.
The victim told police she placed her money pocket on a counter 2:25 pm and left shortly after without it. She was at a bank when she noticed it was missing, and when she returned to retrieve it, it was gone, according to cops.
Video surveillance at the store showed the opportunistic thief put a plastic bag over the victim’s change purse and take it, according to the report.
Cabbie robbed
Some baddie stole a cab driver’s wallet on Farragut Road on May 6.
The driver told cops she was dropping off her fare near E. 56th Street around 1:30 pm when he snatched her wallet out of her hand and took off. The billfold contained about $150 and several credit cards, according to police.
Party rustlers
Someone stole a designer handbag from an E. 59th Place home on April 29.
The woman told police that her she left the pricey pocketbook on the counter of her home near Mill Avenue around 8 am. She told cops that around the time three men interested in purchasing furniture from her were also in her home, but she does not suspect she was robbed, according to the report.
Broken windows
A marauder broke into a car parked on Avenue M on May 11.
The four-wheeler’s owner said that he left his ride near E. 46th Street around 6 am, and when he returned to it 15 hours later he discovered his driver’s-side window shattered, according to cops. Police said the crook got away with a pricey watch and his driver’s license.
Huge price tag
Someone stole a credit card from a car parked on National Drive sometime between April 28 and May 3.
The car’s owner told police that he left his vehicle near Arkansas Drive on April 28 around 9 pm with his credit card inside. The victim later noticed that purchases that were not his were showing up on his account, and when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that the card was missing, according to police.
Cops said no identifiable damage was done to the car and about $4,048 was stolen from the victim’s bank account, according to the report.
Jewel thief
A robber stole $300 worth of jewelry from an Avenue U kiosk store on May 5.
The sneak took several gold and birthstone earrings from the store near Flatbush Avenue sometime between 7 and 8 pm, according to cops.
