A monstrous marauder tried to jump a President Street woman at her doorstep on Nov. 22, but the tough lady foiled the would-be snatcher.
The 56-year-old woman returned to her apartment at 11:30 pm, and was pushed to the floor by a 210-pound man, who unsuccessfully tried to grab her purse before he fled down Fifth Street.
GTA: Park Slope
A wave of auto theft swept the Slope last week, and the criminals weren’t too choosy.
• An elderly white man’s 1996 Honda Accord was snatched on Nov. 20 from a spot on Fifth Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. It had been parked there at 11 pm and was gone at 2:30 am.
• Crooks swiped a purple 1994 Dodge Ram van from the Lowe’s parking lot on Second Avenue between noon on Nov. 16 and 6 pm two days later.
• Police are searching for a 2007 Ford Explorer after it was swiped on Nov. 22. The black truck was parked on Montgomery Place between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West at 6 pm and stolen sometime before 11:30 pm.
Apple cored
A 30-year-old man with a taste for Mac products was left computer-less on Nov. 19 after a cat burglar broke into his apartment at the corner of Seventh Avenue and Second Street.
The crook climbed the fire escape and smashed a window between 6:15 am and 6:30 pm, making off with a MacBook, an iBook, and two iPods.
Truant taunt
A brazen thief not only stole a straphangers wallet on the Q train, but he also taunted his victim on Nov. 18.
The 34-year-old told cops that the train was stopped at the Seventh Avenue station when she felt someone fishing in her backpack. When she turned around, the doors had closed, and a young man was standing on the platform, waving her wallet, which contained $180.
