Let’s welcome Big Apple Urgent Care to the community. The ribbon-cutting on Sept. 6 was attended by Ludovic Michel, Rev. Kevin Laylor, Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte (D–East Flatbush); state Sen. Kevin Parker (D–East New York); Dr. Tamara Moise, co-founder, Big Apple Urgent Care; Wadson Filis, co-founder, Big Apple Urgent Care; Dr. Aletha Maybank, Deputy Commissioner, New York City Department of Health; and Dr. Torian Easterling, Assistant Commissioner, New York City Department of Health.
Festivities included a deejay, free blood pressure screenings, giveaways, and so much more.
“Access to a culturally-sensitive, community-based urgent care center is central to enhancing care and services for the brown and black communities of Central Brooklyn and critical to reducing health inequities,” said Dr. Maybank. “I congratulate Big Apple Walk-In Urgent Care on their opening, and look forward to them becoming a neighborhood asset in supporting the health of Central Brooklyn and beyond,” said Dr. Moise.
The fully renovated medical center features six exam rooms, state-of-the-art equipment — including an on-site X-ray — and team of multilingual healthcare professionals fluent in Creole and Medical Spanish. The medical staff and facility are equipped to handle all kinds of medical needs such as employment physicals, minor illness and injury, immunizations, and lab work.
