Valentine’s savings

New Year’s Eve: The last great splurge

There’s something in the air in Park Slope, and it’s either love — or savings.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, 70 Fifth Avenue retailers and restaurants will take part in a week-long bonanza, offering discounted prices, prix fix meals, and special promotions to satisfy lascivious Slopers.

From Dean Street to 18th Street, shoppers — both coveted and lovelorn — can look for deals on jewelry, gifts, flowers, eats and drinks from Monday, Feb. 9 until the Feb. 14 holiday.

“Valentine’s day is one day, but this year we’re trying to make it last a week,” said Irene LoRe, whose Aunt Suzie’s restaurant will serve 14 different entrees for $14 each, and offer lovers two cocktails for $14 from Monday to Thursday.

Other deals include:

• Wine shop Red White and Bubbly will offer a free tasting of rose wines on Valentine’s Day from 2 to 6 pm.

• Zuzu’s Petals will serve wine to customers and cut the prices on many of its house wares including table linens, which regularly cost between $45 and $85, by 15 percent.

• From Feb. 7 until Valentine’s Day, the women’s clothing store Serene Rose will give 10-percent discounts on all regularly items, including jewelry designed by Avi Soffer, whose necklaces range regularly range from $79 to $400.
