A thieving twosome with eclectic tastes went on a robbery spree in Bushwick last month, looting more than $25,683 worth of cash and goods from neighborhood stores, according to a police report.
The male and female duo first ransacked a discount grocery store on Irving Avenue, between Grove and Linden streets, at around 10:30 pm on Sept. 29 by cutting a lock to the basement, police said. The rogues nabbed $4,035 in cash and almost $800 worth of merchandise, including 60 pairs of headphones, three boxes of cigars, and 15 packs of Trojan condoms before fleeing, cops said.
The scoundrels returned to the same store on Oct. 21 at around 10 pm, this time snipping the lock on the front door and making off with $10,800 in cash, according to a report.
On Oct. 29 at 4 am, the crooks turned their eyes to an optometrist on Knickerbocker Avenue at DeKalb Avenue, once again cutting the lock on the front door before plundering $10,000 worth of lenses and frames from inside, police said.
Fifteen minutes later, the scofflaws broke into a taqueria a few blocks away between Willoughby Avenue and Suydan Street, lopping off the lock on the roll-down security gate, police said. Inside, they loaded an entire cash register containing only $50 and two plastic bags filled with bottled beverages into a shopping cart before fleeing, authorities said.
Police describe the male suspect as standing around 5-foot-9, weighing 150 pounds, and say he was last seen wearing eyeglasses, a dark jacket over a hooded sweatshirt, and light-color pants and sneakers.
The female suspect is around 5-foot-8 and weighs approximately 140 pounds, as was last spotted wearing a light-colored pants and hooded sweatshirt, and pushing a cart containing a cash register and bags of bottles, police said.
