Spikes 3
Cyclones 9
Saturday, July 10 at MCU Park
The Cyclones are on a roll again, with yet another double-digit hit explosion and great starting pitching.
True, starter Chris Hillard gave up two runs in the first, but he was solid the rest of the way, earning his fourth win, against no losses.
The Cyclones scored early and often, with two in the first on Cory Vaughn’s fifth homer of the year, and two in the second on James Schroeder’s double and Vaughn’s bases-loaded walk.
Schroeder doubled again in the fourth, and later scored on Rylan Sandoval’s groundout.
In the sixth, Sandoval again scored Schroeder, but this time, it was on a two-run homer.
Vaughn’s second homer of the game, a solo shot in the seventh, put the game out of reach, but the Clones weren’t done yet. Kurt Steinhauer hit a solo shot in the eighth, the team’s fourth on the night.
The next Cyclones home game is Wednesday night at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
