A bandit broke into a clothing store on Atlantic Avenue by smashing a hole in the sheet rock walls, apparently with a broom handle, on April 18.
Police believe the culprit entered an unlocked building next door to the shop, between Hoyt and Bond streets, which allowed him to pound the hole between 6:45 pm on April 18 and 8:10 am the next morning.
The workers reported that the thief stole $5,000, a stereo and thousands of dollars of children’s clothing.
Bump on a train
A persistent crook repeatedly bumped into a man on a crowded subway, eventually stealing $400 from the unsuspecting straphanger on April 9.
The victim told police that someone knocked into him several times on the F train around 7:30 pm, but it was only after the stranger exited at the Bergen Street station that the man checked his pocket, discovering he lost the cash.
Cash bashed
A woman exiting the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station was hit in the head and her bag was stolen on April 14.
The assailant struck her in the face at 11:04 pm, giving him the chance to steal her pocketbook, containing $20. The purse was recovered, but not the money, on Duffield Street.
Get up, stand up
A man, sticking up for a couple being harassed by a pack of young rowdies on the Q train, was robbed by the troublemakers on April 17.
The 42-year-old victim said he saw the foursome bothering two people around 8:45 pm, so he said to the bullies, “Why don’t you leave them alone?”
That they did, but they fixed their attention on him, following the Good Samaritan off the train at the Pacific Street station. They tormented him with threats like, “We going to get you,” and “You want to be nosey, now get hurt.” They didn’t hurt the man, but they shoved him and stole his gym bag, containing $30.
Slugged!
Two men with a gun attacked and robbed a man and woman on the corner of Bond and Bergen streets on April 20.
One of the thugs pointed a pistol at the couple and hit the man in the face at 2:05 am. Then, the attackers stole $150, a digital music player and cellphone from the boyfriend and girlfriend.
