Shopping spree
A liar stole a 78th Street resident’s identity to open two store credit cards and make more than $25,000 in purchases at some point between Jan. 31 and Feb. 28, the woman told police.
The woman, who lives between 17th and 18th avenues, told police at around 10 am on the last day of February that someone opened Macy’s and American Eagle store accounts, and also made purchases of more than $9,000 on her existing Macy’s and Express store accounts.
Surprise delivery
A trio of louts assaulted a deliveryman on 11th Street on Feb. 27, punching him in the face and his body before stealing $80 and then fleeing in a car.
The group approached the man between Avenues S and T just after 8:30 pm, with one coming at him from the front and two from the back. They drove away in a dark blue car going towards Avenue S, according to the report.
Destination: jail
Police arrested four men who they say intimidated a man on a D train en route to Bay Parkway on March 4 in order to steal his money.
The group approached the man around 2:45 am, and two sat down next to him and told him to give them his money, while the two others stood above him, intimidating him to do so, according to the report.
When the train arrived to the station at W. Seventh Street, the man called the police, who met and arrested the men at the Stillwell Avenue station.
Wheels thief
A thief got into an 85th Street resident’s 2003 Nissan Pathfinder on Feb. 28 and drove off as if it were his own after stealing the keys from another car in the same driveway.
The son of the homeowner saw the no-goodnik take the keys to his car parked in the driveway of the home between 14th and 15th avenues around 4 pm and then get into his father’s car and speed away.
Shopping by stealing
A thief stole jewelry and a fur coat from a woman’s 85th Street home on Feb. 24.
The perp forced his way through the rear basement door of the home between 15th and 16th avenues just after 7 pm, while the homeowner was on vacation.
A camera behind the home captured the intruder in the back of the house, but didn’t capture the rest of the theft because it was facing up, cops said.
Hit the jackpot
A good-for-nothing broke a woman’s door locks with toothpicks and stole $3,000 plus jewelry and designer sneakers from her Bay Ridge Avenue home on March 1.
The woman found the picks in her locks when she returned to her home between 14th and 15th avenues just after 1:15 pm, and discovered her room was a mess and the cash and pricey items were missing.
Caught red-handed
A would-be thief tried to break a basement door frame and door window in an attempt to break into a W. Eighth Street home on March 3 — but got caught in the act.
The victim returned to the home between Avenues T and U just before 11 pm, turning the lights on to find the lout trying to get in before getting scared off and fleeing in a car, leaving behind a wooden plank that he used to damage the door.
