Aberdeen 1
Cyclones 0 (16 inns.)
Thursday, July 9, at Keyspan Park
A classic pitchers’ duel turned tragic for the Cyclones when Aberdeen pushed over a run in the 16th after a scoreless tie dragged on well into the night.
Starter Darin Gorski was impressive in his six scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and striking out seven.
He was relieved by Lance Hoge, who scattered four hits in four innings. And Brandon Sage tossed four one-hitting innings. Mike Lynn gave up two hits in his first inning, the 15th, but got out of the jam.
He wasn’t as lucky an inning later. He got the first two batters to ground out, but then gave up a walk, a wild pitch and a single.
The Cyclones went quietly in the home 16th.
