Barry laughs

Can’t wait until August for the next Brooklyn Comedy Festival? No need — the fest is throwing a holiday show called “Winter Wonderlandia,” with comedians including Todd Barry, Mark Normand, Kate Berlant, and Sean Patton. In the spirit of the season, there will also be a coat, book, and toy drive — bring a donation and you could win prize.

7:30 pm at the Paper Box [17 Meadow St. between Waterbury and Bogart streets in Fort Greene, (718) 383–3815, www.paperboxnyc.com]. $10–$15.

Youth group

There will be a caroler from Carroll Gardens — and just about every other Brooklyn neighborhood, too. Some 400 choristers from all over the borough will take to the stage for the Brooklyn Youth Chorus’ annual “Holiday Harmonies” show, with a range of tunes both old and new.

3 pm and 7 pm at Brooklyn College, Walt Whitman Theatre [2900 Avenue H, between Campus Road and Hillel Place in Midwood, www.brooklynyouthchorus.org], $10–$45.

If it ain’t baroque

Best of the fest: The Brooklyn Comedy Festival’s “Winter Wonderlandia” show at the Paper Box on Dec. 13 will be headlined by comedian Todd Barry.

There is singing “Jingle Bells” — and then there is belting out the “Hallelujah! Hallelujah!” at the top of your lungs. Let it all out at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church’s “Sing-It-Yourself Messiah,” an audience-interactive performance of Handel’s masterpiece. There will be a silent auction, where you can bid on the right to conduct the “Hallelujah Chorus.”

7 pm at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church [199 Carroll St. between Clinton and Court streets in Carroll Gardens, (718) 625–4126, www.stpaulscarrollst.weebly.com]. $15.

Meatloaf, smeatloaf

What is better than watching the 1983 classic “A Christmas Story” in the lead-up to the big day? Watching it with the stars! Actors Ian Petrella (Ralphie’s little brother, Randy) and Scott Schwartz (the kid who got his tongue stuck to the pole) will be at Brooklyn Heights Cinema for a special screening of the film, including a Q&A and autograph signing.

Chorus lines: Around 400 members of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus will perform in the group’s annual “Holiday Harmonies” show on Dec. 14.

Mix master

Mixtapes are not just for teenage crushes. Make 20 copies of your own (it can be a CD, but tapes are cooler), then bring them to the “Holiday Mixtape Swap” party hosted by creative collective BLANKS. You will walk out with 20 new mixtapes to take home — then you will just have to locate a tape player. Make sure to RSVP.

Walk on: The “Holiday Mixtape Swap” party at Splitty on Dec. 18 will have you dusting off your old Walkman.
