Where’s the money?

There’s a phrase I remember, “Liar Liar Pants on Fire” I think it was about 30 years ago that someone came up with an idea about how to fund the City’s public schools. A lottery wish which I believe cost $1.

This would not be a tax but something that New Yorkers could, and would, invest in public education.

But what happened to the so-called money? Where did it go? This was a question asked year after year.

Under the Pataki administration, many years ago, the campaign for fiscal equity took the Pataki administration to court. After many years the court ruled against Pataki. Instead of abiding the ruling, it went to the Court of Appeals and finally lost.

It’s now 2008 and where is the money due New York City I question? Well it now seems that New York will get the shaft.

Congestion pricing is now attempting to be rammed down our throats. The so-called money will be geared for mass transit. How many times do you think you can fool the public?

It’s a big joke if you think raising the tolls on bridges will get people to take mass transit when many lines are over crowded with constant delays due to the track work.

I’m pro-environment and concerned about global warming, but think, one needs to come up with a solution which does not impact people who, financially, cannot keep paying higher prices.
