Firefighters look over a Chevy Astrovan that slammed into a parked Honda Civic during a harrowing car accident on McDonald Avenue near Bay Parkway Tuesday.
Police estimate that a man in his 60s was behind the wheel of the van traveling down McDonald Avenue at 2:40 p.m. on September 15 when he apparently lost control of the vehicle.
Witnesses said that the van sideswiped a massive support beam for the elevated F train line and then cut a sharp left, sending it careening into the back end of a parked Honda Civic.
The driver was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators were still trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the wheel as this paper went to press.
