Win streak at three as Clones own first place

Cyclones 8

Renegades 6

Tuesday, June 29 at Hudson Valley

It’s a good thing that the Cyclones’ power hitter Cory Vaughn has started turning it on because his ninth-inning dinger, which looked like a needless tack-on run at the time, turned out to be huge.

Yes, the Cyclones bullpen tried to give another one away in the ninth, giving up two runs and making it a ballgame. But except for that blemish, the team was solid in winning its third in a row.

Brooklyn got on the board in the first on a two-run double by William Cherry.

The Cyclones added four in the fourth, with RBIs provided by Rylan Sandoval, Darrell Ceciliani and Vaughn.

Starter Chris Hilliard earned his third win with a solid outing, striking out six in five-plus innings. Johan Figuereo notched his fourth save after Nelson Pereira almost blew the game.

The Cyclones return home on tonight night against the Renegades. Game time is 7 pm at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
