A woman with an infant and an apparent grudge against the Internal Revenue Service tried to sneak a 25-caliber automatic weapon into the Fulton-Street IRS building by wrapping it in a diaper and then sending it through the X-ray machine in a diaper bag on Aug. 14, said cops.
At 9:45 am, an eagle-eyed security guard at the building, between Rockwell Place and Hudson Avenue, spotted the outline of the gun within the diaper as it passed through the machine and called the cops, who arrested the gun-toting 31-year-old woman. They charged her with criminal possession of a weapon.
Crazy violence
A 30-year-old woman with a history of mental illness allegedly stabbed another woman in the face and arm inside the victim’s Adelphi Street apartment on Aug. 14.
Police say the assailant stabbed the 44-year-old victim during an argument inside the apartment at Myrtle Avenue at around 9:30 am.
Cops arrested the woman at the scene and charged her with felony assault.
iPod recovered
A 28-year-old man was arrested for stealing an iPod from a 19-year-old woman on Aug. 14, cops said.
The Ozone Park-based robber surprised the victim, also from Ozone Park, as she was exiting the Lafayette Avenue A–train station at 5:40 pm.
The police found the suspect in the vicinity of the crime and still in possession of the $300 digital music player.
Bad egg
Cops nabbed a graffiti artist after a neighbor spotted him spray-painting the letters “YOL” on the side of a building on Aug. 15.
The 35-year-old woman who called the cops said she spotted the 24-year-old suspect on the roof of a Myrtle Avenue building at 2:25 am as he was defacing the wall, which is between Park and Flushing avenues. When the cops arrived to arrest him, he tried to escape, but was tackled to the ground.
He was charged with criminal mischief.
He later told cops he’d been trying to paint the word “YOLK.”
Stolen Apple
A fancy laptop was stolen from a Washington Avenue apartment on Wednesday, even though the 33-year-old tenant said she was only gone for 30 minutes on Aug. 15.
The thief had broken into the apartment, which is at Gates Avenue, at around 7:30 am, netting a Mac titanium laptop. Cops canvassed neighboring apartments, but made no arrests.
Target employee
Police charged an employee of the Atlantic Terminal Target store with stealing $1,200 worth of gift cards on Aug. 14.
Witnesses say they observed the 18-year-old woman pocketing the cards, and police charged her with grand larceny.
Putnam putz
A hapless, but violent, thief pistol-whipped a middle-aged man over the head and stole $165 from him in a horrifying beating on Aug. 17 — but the perp was later arrested, cops said.
The 52-year-old victim was at the corner of Fulton Street and St. James Place at around 3:40 am when the 19-year-old suspect allegedly approached, pulled out the gun and screamed, “Give me your [expletive] money!” before taking it for himself.
He then fled to the roof of a Putnam Avenue building, between Downing Street and Grand Avenue, where cops were able to collar him with the money still on him.
The gun was not found, so the teen was charged only with robbery, cops said.
Fashion victim

That’s what a 17-year-old Bronx resident discovered on Aug. 17 when he fell asleep on a Brooklyn-bound 4–train.
The teen awoke at 7 am at the Atlantic Avenue station to find someone has snagged the clip-on phone.
Road rage
A man followed another man to his Quincy Street workplace after an Aug. 16 traffic altercation and stabbed him in his right thigh all the way to his bone, piercing his femur, said cops.
The 43-year-old victim was on his way to work, between Classon Avenue and Downing Street, at around 4 pm when the assailant, who looked to be about 30 years old and 5-foot-10, stabbed him.
Hot wheels
An early morning thief showed a Queens man some Brooklyn hospitality on Aug. 12, nabbing his yellow motorcycle from a parking spot at Waverly and Lafayette avenues.
The 40-year-old bike-owner returned to the spot at 8:50 am and discovered that his 2002 Honda CBR was gone.
