Woman dies in early morning East Flatbush fire

A woman died in a devastating early morning fire on Monday in East Flatbush. 

The massive inferno broke out at 738 E. 52 St., on the corner of Avenue D, at around 3:10 a.m. and sent dozens of FDNY personnel rushing to the scene. 

When first responders arrived, they were met by heavy fire and smoke coming from a second floor apartment.

The blaze took 12 FDNY units and 60 members to subdue, according to a Fire Department spokesperson.

During their efforts to quash the fire, first responders found a woman unconscious and unresponsive inside a residence. 

Emergency Medical Services tended to the victim, but ultimately pronounced her dead at the scene. 

The woman’s identity has not yet been released, pending proper family notification.

The Fire Marshal will determine the cause of the blaze and the investigation remains ongoing.
