The cream of the championship crop laced up their skates and wowed the crowd with their fancy footwork, and time-honored tips, during an ice frolic at Abe Stark Rink in Coney Island.
American world-class skaters and their peers from Russia and Poland shared the spotlight with Olympic hopefuls from the Coney Island Ice Theatre for a delightful performance at the ice emporium on West 19th Street and the Boardwalk, complete with poppings, lutzes and edge jumps.
Elaine Zayak, a 1982 world champion skater from New Jersey, was on hand to boost the youngsters.
Coney Island Ice Theatre is a figure skating program for local children directed by skating professional and Brooklyn resident Valery Levine.
