Worldwide jazz comes home

On monthly Thursday evening performances, PLG Arts’ Jazz at the Ink Well presents emerging and mid-career Brooklyn jazz artists. This summer, the series continues exploring Jazz’s global influence and influences, presenting artists who hail from France, Germany, and of course New York.

All performances take place at The Ink Well, 408 Rogers Avenue in Brooklyn. There is a $5 admission.

PLG Arts promotes the arts, supports local artists, and builds community through celebrating the vibrant collective creativity of Prospect Lefferts Gardens and surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods. On-going programs include ArtMart 11225, a semi-annual arts and crafts street fair that features Brooklyn artists and artisans; Jazz at the Inkwell; and annual free summer theater performances in Prospect Park.

The concert series concludes July 10 from 8-10:30 p.m. with the Christian Finger Band. Brooklyn-based German drummer and composer Christian Finger brings together an international group of musicians. The repertoire of this stellar ensemble consists of original compositions that explore the American jazz tradition and mix it with European sensitivity. The result is a warm, deep, full sound of surprises, combining jazz, pop, and classical music.
