To The Editor:
Stanley Gershbein (“It’s Only My Opinion”) Really after reading your article in the August 22 issue I simply had a good laugh.
You claim that “both candidates are tied at 44 percent each” and wonder why Sen. Obama had not made meaningful strives.
Stan, I am truly surprised at you – why, you ask is Obama not advancing to the Nth degree – the answer is clear, because he is black.
For example, if Sen. Obama were white Sen. McCain would be dead in the water.
I could go on and on, but in the end it’s only my opinion
Incidentally, I will be voting Obama.

Stanley Gershbein replies:
I agree with you that there are many whites who will not vote for him because of his skin color. On the other hand there are many blacks who will now register to vote for him because he is black. Which number is greater? We will never really know – even with the exit polls.
It’s only my opinion by I believe that our good friend Hillary played the race card regularly. Right from the start, in every one of her speeches, she repeatedly told us how lucky we were to have an opportunity to elect the first woman or the first African American to the White House – like we didn’t know. Was that constant reminder really necessary? IT was if you wanted to spread a subliminal message.
Incidentally – I will not be voting for Obama and it has nothing to do with his race. Thanks for writing.
