Oh, say did you see the long line of patriotic crooners at Kings Plaza mall, juggling their vocal cords for a chance to sing the National Anthem for the Brooklyn Cyclones?
The audition call drew the harmonious hordes to the shopping haven at Avenue U and Flatbush Avenue, where they belted out the “Star Spangled Banner” with high hopes of being among the best vocalists, who will share the spotlight at KeySpan Park during the Mets Minor League team’s home games, beginning June 17.
“The National Anthem is such an important part of each game, and helps set the tone for a fantastic night at the ballpark,” said Cyclones’ General manager Steve Cohen.
“The Star Spangled Banner” is a poem, written by poet-lawyer Francis Scott Key and inspired by the Battle of Baltimore, fought, September 12-14, 1814.
