The superstars from East Coast Professional Wrestling are invading St. Patrick’s Church, 9511 Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge, May 17.
The school fundraiser supports the youth group’s mission to raise funds to send its members to World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia in July whose hallmark is a visit by the Pope. The event has become the largest single mobilization of young people in the world.
The idea for the wrestling shows came about as a joint project Father John Madurai of the church and ECPW wrestler Tony Biella, a former altar boy at Regina Paces when Fr. Madurai was youth moderator.
Espy’s mission statement is “to provide good, clean, fun entertainment for the entire family” says founder Gino Caruso. It is a form of entertainment that you could bring anyone from your five year-old to your grandfather to.
The event will feature many of Espy’s hottest up and coming superstars as well as WWE Legend and Hall of Farmer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka and WWE legend Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake.
St. Patrick’s and ECPW will be teaming up again in October for their second and final event in 2008.
