Watch out, Foer, the Baumbachs are quickly becoming the “it” Brooklyn family, and it’s happening in your own backyard.
On Nov. 11 at Southpaw, team Baumbach — papa Jonathan has written over a dozen novels and son Noah (pictured) has directed films including “The Squid and the Whale” and the forthcoming “Margot at the Wedding”— will make culture a family affair when they participate in “A Night of Film and Literature.”
“I want to bring an intellectual conversation about the intersection of literature and film,” said Amanda Stern, who will host the evening, “but I want to put a quirky spin on it.”
The series of events, put on by the PEN American Center, a writer’s group devoted to promoting free speech, is being curated by “Right Livelihoods” author Rick Moody, who will himself participate later in the month alongside Kensington singer Sufjan Stevens and author Wesley Stace.
“I think that this is a really unique way to do this,” said Stern. “We’re bringing in film people and music people and historians, so it’s a way to merge different artistic disciplines and present it in a palatable way to a new audience.”
“A Night of Film and Literature featuring Jonathan and Noah Baumbach,” will take place at 7 pm on Nov. 11 at Southpaw (125 Fifth Ave. at St. John’s Place in Park Slope). Tickets are $10. For information, call (718) 230-0236 or visit www.spsounds.com.
