Thursday, December 16th, the “Love Your Lane” cyclist clowns from the environmental organization Time’s Up! came to Brooklyn Borough Hall dressed in holiday- and festive-colored costumes. The clowns were ready to recruit. After Brooklyn borough President Marty Markowitz’ clownish behavior last week at the well attended bike lane oversight hearing, the clowns hoped to invite Markowitz to join their circus. After all, his rendition of “My Favorite Things” to the City Council’s Transportation Committee hearing on NYC Bike Policy, chalk full of anti-bike lane misinformation, made him an ideal candidate.

The “Love Your Lanes” clowns were also interested in adding a verse to the childhood anthem, “My Favorite Things”:

When the car honks,
and trucks double park,
when we're run off the bike lane
I simply think of Prospect Park's designated bike lane
And then I don't feel so bad.

If Marty doesn't want the bike, I'll take it.

Why would Marty need a bike? He has a driver and parks on the sidewalk next to Borough Hall every day.

Exactly my gripe with janette "ooh, let's be Copenhagen" sadik Kahn. Talks bikes. Gets driven. Everywhere. What a poser.

JSK may get driven a lot, and that clearly needs to change.

But at least she's working hard on saving people's lives. Marty is actively trying to make the streets more dangerous.

And from the looks of it, Marty doesn't even use his bike.

Good One for Marty, He used to live on PPW and knows that the bike lane on Prospect West is ridiculous, it is not used frequently except for summer wkends. The bike group would be better served if they had two lanes inside the park.

ASG, Why is the bike lane on PPW ridiculous?

ASG can you elaborate on why you the think the PPW traffic calming improvements are ridiculous? Is it the reduction in speeding motor vehicles? The massive reduction in sidewalk cycling? The huge increase in bicycling numbers, especially parents and kids riding? Which safety improvement would you remove? Which element of dysfunction would you restore to that street?

Mike from GP and the clown cycle lobby have taken a page from the Karl Rove strategy playbook. If you repeat a lie over and over and over again it must be true! Bogus speeding stat's, inflated bicycling numbers.
Getting every hipster putz with a bike to come out for the cameras on the anti-bike lane rally day? There were more cyclist's there for the cameras that day than there have been on that bike lane in total since its been finished!

BTW, the people in the photo above are offended that you've been calling them clowns! Thats their regular every day clothes! They get them from the dumpster behind one of the many clown colleges in Williamsburg!
