A 74-year-old Crown Heights woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Canarsie late Wednesday night, according to police.

The woman, Maureen Fraser, was crossing East 80th Street at the intersection with Paerdegat 12th Street on the evening of May 19 when authorities she was struck by a driver in a white van. Cops and EMS responded to a 911 call made at 11:19 pm and found Fraser unconscious and unresponsive, and with a traumatic head injury.

Fraser was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Cops say the driver of the white van was heading southbound on East 80th Street when they hit Fraser, and then fled the scene. Police are investigating the incident but have not made any arrests.

The incident is the first fatal traffic collision in Canarsie so far this year, according to NYPD traffic collision records. Back in January, however, a cyclist on Ralph Avenue reportedly “lost control” of his e-bike and fell to the ground, suffering fatal injuries.
