Phone store swipers
A couple of thieves stole a ton of smartphones from a Myrtle Avenue shop on March 4.
Police said the two swipers walked into an AT&T store near Ryerson Street at around 10:30 in the morning and locked the front door while threatening the victim with a handgun. They gathered up a selection of Samsung, LG, and Apple smartphones and Apple watches, all in all worth nearly $50,000, and ordered the employee to stay in the back of the store until they had left.
A witness said the two perps drove off in a blue Mercedes-Benz sedan.
Tire iron tussle
A knucklehead attacked a driver with a tire iron on Flushing Avenue on March 1.
Police said the victim was stopped at a red light at the corner of Classon Avenue at 4:30 am when someone knocked on the rear window of the vehicle. He got out of the car and saw that the knocker was holding a tire iron. The two got into a verbal argument, which ended when the villain hit the victim in the head with the iron. A witness saw the whole thing — and wrote down the assailant’s license plate number.
Essential packages swiped
A sneak-thief nabbed some packages containing everyday essentials from a Vanderbilt Avenue apartment building on Feb. 24.
The victim told police someone walked into his building near Gates Avenue sometime between Feb. 14 and 24 and stole some recently-delivered boxes containing microfiber cloths, deodorant, and boxers.
Package thief returns
Just days after a ne’er-do-well swiped some goodies from a Vanderbilt Avenue apartment building, a resident of that same building caught a thief picking through mail in the very same lobby.
Police said the worm allegedly buzzed an apartment at the building near Gates Avenue at about 12pm on March 1 and pretended he was delivering packages. But when the victim went downstairs, he found the worm stacking boxes onto a black hand truck and wheeling them outside, where a different resident, who had watched the burglar walk into the building with the empty hand cart, shouted at him.
Cops arrested the alleged thief on the scene.
Crafty crook steals equipment
A crook broke into a Classon Avenue apartment building and stole a host of equipment on March 2.
Police said the baddie picked the lock on the inner door of the apartment building near Fulton Street at about 4 am and took the elevator to the basement, where he loaded up on Black and Decker tools, electrical supplies, and a karaoke machine before the victim headed downstairs and confronted him. The bandit lunged at the victim and ran upstairs, hauling his loot with him.
Oxford Walk-off
A car parked on Oxford Walk on the night of Feb. 28 was whisked away.
The victim told police she parked the 2021 Honda near Park Avenue at about 7:30 pm on Feb. 28, but when she went back for the car at about 2am, it had disappeared. License plate readers tracked the car across the Brooklyn Bridge and up the FDR Drive.
