The Cyclones ended up on the losing end of a 15-run, 28-hit slugfest, despite coming back from behind and tying the game in the bottom of the eighth, only to lose it in the ninth.
Brooklyn got on the board first, with two runs in the second on consecutive singles by Jeff Flagg, Joe Bonfe and Will Cherry before a sacrifice fly by Blake Forsythe and a groundout.
But Tri City scored five times in the next two innings, all of them off starter Jonathan Kountis, who probably does not figure into Wally Backman’s playoff plans anyway.
But the Cyclones tied up the score with three in the bottom of the fourth, with two runs scoring on Cherry’s homer. Another run scored on J.B. Brown’s single.
After the Cyclone pen gave up two more runs, the Brooklyn bats stormed back, first with a single run in the seventh on a Flagg double. Then, the Cyclones tied the score on Brown’s RBI single in the eighth.
Reliever Ryan Fraser, who is a bit part of the Cyclones’ post-season plans, blew the game in the ninth, giving up a walk, a bunt and a single that gave him the loss.
