Drag ’n’ mug
A thug robbed a 24-year-old woman on Dec. 1 after dragging her into the driveway of a Budget Rental Car franchise at the corner of Greene and Classon avenues.
The victim was approaching the intersection at 9:30 pm when the thief grabbed her from behind. The woman told police that the thief took $560 and a cellphone after forcing her off the street.
No shrimp
A 46-year-old man was arrested on Dec. 1 after he bowled over a security guard trying to stop him from swiping a bag of shrimp from the Pathmark in the crime-riddled Atlantic Center Mall.
The thief was trying to leave the store between Hanson Place and Atlantic Avenue at 6 pm when the guard blocked the exit.
The thief shoved the guard aside, knocking the supermarket sentry to the ground — but he didn’t get far: Cops caught up with the shrimp stealer a short time later, charging him with robbery.
Phone grab
Two teens were arrested on Nov. 30 after mugging a peer at S. Elliott Place and Lafayette Avenue.
The 15-year-old victim was near the corner at 3:22 pm when the suspects jumped him, demanding the teen’s property.
Forceful entry
Two thugs kicked their way into a N. Elliott Place apartment on Nov. 30 — not knowing that a terrified tenant was inside.
The tenant was in the bedroom of the apartment between Flushing and Park avenues at 1 pm when the thieves kicked in the basement door.
The victim hid as the thieves rummaged through the apartment and ultimately left empty-handed.
Green grab
A sticky-fingered thief made off with a 42-year-old woman’s wallet on Nov. 26 as she entered Green Planet on Fulton Street.
The woman told police that an unidentified woman got too close for comfort as she entered the store between St. James Place and Washington Avenue at 2 pm. The thief plucked the wallet out of her victim’s backpack during the near-collision.
Left flat
A crook forced his way inside a Carlton Avenue home on Nov. 21, taking a 42-inch flat-screen television.
The victim left his home between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue at 8:30 pm to run some errands. He returned two hours later to find the lock to his apartment door damaged and the fancy TV gone.
Boozin’ it up
A thief broke into the Olea Restaurant on Lafayette Avenue on Dec. 1 and spirited away two bottles of bubbly.
Workers told police that the thief entered the eatery between Adelphi Street and Clermont Avenue by forcing open a basement door sometime after 12:50 pm. A bottle of Pinot Grigio and a bottle of Chianti were stolen, as well as a bottle of sparkling water to cleanse the palate.
Negative energy
Talk about a cable conundrum! A daring thief removed a half-mile long electric cable from a train tunnel near the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street on Dec. 1 — but no one noticed until after the thief spooled up his ill-gotten goods and fled the scene!
The cable, valued at $1,833 and 52 pipe clamps were ripped from the side of the tunnel sometime between midnight and 4:45 am, bewildered MTA employees told police.
Rolling raids
A handful of vehicles were looted in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill this week. Here’s the rundown:
• A thief smashed his way into a car parked on Waverly Avenue between Willoughby and DeKalb avenues on Nov. 30, taking a $4,500 laptop computer.
The victim told police he parked his vehicle at 9:45 am and he returned at noon to find a broken window and a ransacked car.
• A handyman swiped a $700 chainsaw from a truck on DeKalb Avenue on Nov. 30 — while the driver was still behind the wheel!
The driver told police that he was between Ashland Place and Flatbush Avenue Extension at 11:15 am when the thief jumped into the back of the truck — which was open — and grabbed the pricey tool.
• A thief swiped a $7,600 MoneyGram from a car sitting on Putnam Avenue between Grand Avenue and Downing Street on Dec. 3 — as its owner stood next to it.
The victim told police that she was adjusting the car’s baby seat at 8:40 am when the thief reached through the passenger-side window and removed a book bag containing the check.
