During Scoop Day at Stop & Shop’s Flatbush store, the public had a chance to meet Brooklyn residents Kamirah, a four-year old girl with Ewing’s Sarcoma, and Shemar, an eight-year old with Neuroblastoma.
The store, 1009 Flatbush Avenue, co-hosted the event with Edy’s, and offered a free scoop of Edy’s Grand Ice Cream at all Stop & Shop locations to customers who donated $1 to the Triple Winner Game, a scratch card game, in support of pediatric cancer research and care.
Kamirah and Shemar, who visited Store Manager Anthony Torrissi, are 2008 members of the Triple Winner family, and are beneficiaries of Memorial Sloan-Kettering cancer care and research. Memorial Sloan-Kettering is supported by the Triple Winner Game.
Customers who donated $3 received a free scoop of ice cream and a special American Idol “Hot Tracks” CD with music recorded by former American Idol performers.
Edy’s doled out more than 50,000 scoops of ice cream to customers throughout the Stop & Shop chain.
To further support Triple Winner charities, Edy’s Grand Ice Cream will donate $25,000 from the sale of its Slow Churned Take the Cake limited edition flavor.
The Free Scoop Day and Take the Cake donation combined will help Edy’s raise an anticipated $100,000 for pediatric cancer charities.
