Cyclones 4
Valley Cats 7
Monday, July 19 at Tri-City
The Cyclones hit three home runs, but still lost, thanks to some poor fielding and some lousy relief pitching.
Rylan Sandoval led off the game with his sixth homer, but an error by Sandoval opened the door for two Tri City runs in the bottom of the frame.
Cory Vaughn’s league-leading ninth homer gave the Cyclones the lead again, but the Valley Cats tied it the fourth.
Then, off reliever Hamilton Bennett, the Valley Cats started purring, scoring two in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Jeff Flagg’s ninth-inning homer was too little, too late.
The next Cyclones home game is tonight at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
