And last night, the Clones won, too!

Spinners 4

Cyclones 5

Wednesday, July 21 at MCU Park

Starter Angel Cuan almost undid his own fine pitching performance with two disasterous back-to-back throwing errors in the fourth on easy outs that led to three Spinner runs.

That inning erased a 3–1 lead that the Cyclones built with three runs in the second, one on a Cody Holliday single and two on Rylan Sandoval’s 11th double of the year.

The Cyclones had runners at third twice after the error-filled inning, but didn’t break through until the sixth when Joe Bonfe led off with a double and scored on an error.

And the winning run scored in the Cyclones’ last at-bat, on Cory Vaughn’s SAC fly.

The late run made a winner of newcomer Daniel Carela, who pitched two innings of shutout ball in relief of Cuan, who only gave up two hits in his six innings to lower his ERA to 1.71.

And in our new feature — “Chasing .400” — we regret to report that Darrell Ceciliani went 0-for-4, dropping his average to .375.

The win increased the Cyclones lead over the Yankees to four games.
