Apple picking

If it wasn’t for bad lock, there’d be no lock at all.

A burglar broke into a Smith Street building on Aug. 15 and stole a ubiquitous Mac laptop.

The 24-year-old victim told police that the lock on the front door, between Warren and Baltic streets, had been busted open while she was away from 9 am to 5 pm and during that time someone nabbed her Apple computer.

Vandals shattered the windows of four parked commercial trucks in a Douglass Street parking lot overnight night on Aug. 14, when really, the destruction of private property of just one would have been enough ot satisfy their base criminal motives.

The hooligans bashed their way into four American make vans, but found a valuable trove of tools in only one automobile parked between Bond Street and the Gowanus Canal between 6:30 pm and 7:30 am.

A thief burglarized a construction site on Columbia Street on Aug. 15.

The flimsy plywood door was no match for the intruder, who struck between 12:30 and 2:30 am, according to the resident of the building, which is between Kane and Degraw streets.

According to the police report, several types of saws were taken from the construction site.

Burglars broke into a Third Street apartment on Aug. 13 and got, what else?, a laptop.

Aside from the computer missing from the dwelling, which is between Hoyt and Bond streets, the tell-tale sign of the criminal’s presence was the mangled kitchen curtains that wound up on the floor, sometime between 9 am and 6 pm while the resident was not home.
