Another ‘Bloombox’ stolen from snow plow

Another “Bloombox” has been taken from a Sanitation snow plow — the second such theft of the post-snowpacalypse navigation systems in as many months.

Cops say that the garbage truck had been parked on May 13 in front of the Park Slope district garage on Second Avenue near Hamilton Avenue. But when a worker checked on the vehicle the next day at 1 pm, he noticed that someone had taken the $100 Motorola navigation system — one of 1,700 such devices installed in Sanitation Department vehicles after the administration’s botched handling of the Dec. 26-27 blizzard, which left some streets unplowed for four days.

The same thing happened back in April, when a different device went missing from the same depot.

Sanitation Department officials declined to comment on the latest crime, and would not reveal how many of the navigation systems have been swiped.
