A drunk driver was arrested on Monday night after he mowed down a 41-year-old delivery man on Leonard Street in Greenpoint, police said.
The victim had stopped on his scooter at the intersection of Meserole Avenue at 7 pm, when the 29-year-old driver rammed his Buick into him from behind and pinned him against a livery van, killig him, cops said.
An NYPD source said that the driver, whose identity has not been released, was intoxicated at the time. He has been charged with vehicular homicide.
The fatal accident was Greenpoint’s second significant traffic accident in the past week.
On Oct. 5, a driver struck a man crossing McGuinness Boulevard near Norman Avenue at 6:30 pm and fled the scene.
The victim remains in critical, but stable condition.
Police recovered debris from the car and are attempting to locate the driver of the hit-and-run Mercedes.
