Another gym rat at work

Gym grab

Ah, there’s nothing like the lure of the classics: In yet another example of that staple of The Brooklyn Paper crime blotter, a thief grabbed a woman’s purse while she worked out at a Boerum Place gym on July 27.

The woman went to the gym, which is between Pacific and Dean streets, at around 5:30pm, and placed her things in a locker. When she returned after her hour-long workout, she discovered that her purse and credit cards were gone.

Bus bust

A thief grabbed a woman’s wallet on a Downtown bus on July 29.

The victim exited the bus at Borough Hall and noticed that her wallet was missing. She didn’t notice anyone bump into her, but she later learned that her credit cards had been used.

Sidekick slip

A thug grabbed a teenager’s cellphone on Fulton Street on Aug. 1.

The young lady and her friend were on the pedestrian mall near Hoyt Street at around 7:50 pm when the perp walked past. He then turned around, slipped the T-Mobile Sidekick from the teen’s back pocket, and fled.

Drive bye

Thieves took a Volvo sedan from a spot on Wyckoff St on July 28.

A Massachusetts man had parked the car between Smith and Hoyt Streets at 10 am. He came back to discover the car missing at 8:45 pm.

Three days later, thieves swiped a Honda Accord from Nassau Street near Navy Street. The victim parked the car at noon and discovered it missing when he returned 16 hours later.

Direction diversion

A thief grabbed a straphanger’s purse while feigning being lost on July 23.

A woman and her boyfriend told cops that they were sitting in the Atlantic Avenue subway station at around 2 pm when a man asked them for directions.

As they responded, the man — shifting in a flash from lost tourist to dastardly thief — grabbed the woman’s purse and fled the station.
