Arrest in PS 107 computer caper!

Police have arrested a Sunset Park man for stealing more than 30 Apple laptops from PS 107 in Park Slope while the school was undergoing renovations in July.

The suspect, Ian Pagan, faces seven years for the burglary, the second of two hits on the Eighth Avenue school this summer. Pagan was not charged in connection with the theft of 19 other Apple machines in June, according to the District Attorney’s office.

Cops say that their big break came when they found Pagan’s fingerprints on the windows, which he allegedly pried open so his two accomplices, who are still on the loose, could sneak into the school. Those fingerprints were matched to computers that Pagan allegedly tried to sell.

Principal Cynthia Holton changed the school’s outside locks after the second crime, but she said this week that she can’t rest easy until the other culprits are caught.

“The case isn’t over,” Holton said. “And we’re taking many more safety precautions to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

The city has promised new computers, which Holton said she would secure in rooms with better locks.

Pagan had no known connection with Komi Construction Company, which failed to properly secure the school while it was performing renovations. Pagan has had no prior arrests in Brooklyn, according to the DA, but authorities would not say why his fingerprints were in a state criminal justice database.
