Food critic Arthur Schwartz (pictured)
will discuss and sign copies of his new book "Arthur Schwartz’s
New York City Food" (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, $45) at
the Brooklyn Museum on Dec. 11, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
"New York City Food" is the fifth cookbook by Schwartz,
who "grew up in a food-obsessed Brooklyn family," according
to his Web site (www.thefoodmaven.com).
His new tome includes 100 recipes sprinkled among 400 pages crammed
with everything from tidbits about Brooklyn’s West Indian enclaves
to egg creams to information about those other boroughs.
Following Schwartz’s lecture in the museum’s Iris and B. Gerald
Cantor auditorium, attendees will join Schwartz in the Beaux-Arts
Court for coffee, tea and goodies provided by Downtown Atlantic
restaurant, Junior’s, Cake Man Raven and Royal Crown Bakery among
other local purveyors.
Tickets are $75 (which includes a copy of Schwartz’s book and
parking). The Brooklyn Museum is located on Eastern Parkway at
Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights. For more information and
to make a reservation, call the Brooklyn Museum Committee office
at (718) 501-6286 or (718) 638-5000.
