It was a bad week at the bank for this Fort Greene culture center.

Someone stole $36,000 from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s bank account between July 30 and Aug. 6, authorities said.

Officials at the cultural institution, on Lafayette Avenue between Ashland Place and Saint Felix Street, told authorities their bank’s fraud unit contacted them about checks being cashed and deposited from their business bank account. The unknown suspects cashed in $36,656.16 worth of fraudulent checks before the bank caught up to them, according to the police report.

The Academy confirmed the theft happened but wouldn’t comment on it.
