All for Norway!
National pride took center stage as Norwegian-Brooklynites put on the dog – and their best foot forward – for the 57th Annual Norwegian Constitution Day Parade in Bay Ridge.
The jubilant jaunt stepped off along 5th Avenue, from 88th to 90th streets, before heading to Leif Erikson Park at 67th Street to celebrate the Scandinavian nation’s cultural heritage with a festival.
Along the way, more than a dozen bands and floats entertained spectators with traditional costumes and music to hail Norway’s Independence Day, which was signed at Eidsvoll on May 17 in 1814. In Norway, the national holiday is commonly referred to as syttende mai, or May 17.
At the park, festivities included the official crowning of Sarah Lindland as Miss Norway by Norwegian Consul General Liv Finborud.
The parade is presented by the Norwegian-American 17th of May Committee of Greater New York.
