Bay Ridge springs into action

Spring is finally here, and the nights are heating up in Bay Ridge.

Get your weekend started by casting off your beanie and gloves and heading to the Schnitzel Haus [7319 Fifth Ave. between 73rd and 74th streets] at 9 pm to see an all-new cover band blossom when Steppin’ Back plays its debut gig. The group plays the classic hits of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, with music as diverse as the Ronettes and Jefferson Airplane.

If you would prefer to welcome the new season with some original material, hit Circles Grill [9023 Third Ave. at the corner of 91st Street] where Tony Travis and Friends will play its own acoustic tunes in a set filled with comedy and guaranteed surprises. The show begins at 7:30 pm.

Saturday is blooming with options, so get off the Belt Parkway West to hear the band Belt Parkway West belt out rock classics from the past five decades at Three Jolly Pigeons [6802 Third Ave. at the corner of 68th Street], starting at 10 pm. Or you can stumble into the Monk [9510 Third Ave. between 95th and 96th streets] at 11 pm to hear Radio Daze, blasting all your favorite hard rock songs. Then wrap up your weekend in the Ridge by listening to the Ridge play some of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll numbers of all time at the Greenhouse Cafe [7717 Third Ave. between 77th and 78th streets].
