Brutal assault
Police arrested a suspect accused of punching a woman in the face inside a Mill Street apartment on Dec. 21.
The 68-year-old victim told cops that she was inside the residence between Columbia and Hicks streets at 9 pm when the suspect pinned her against the wall and decked her in the face, causing her eye to swell.
The suspect — who faces charges of assault, criminal mischief, and harassment — also broke the victim’s eyeglasses after grabbing them, according to documents from the District Attorney’s office.
Cellphone grab
A crook allegedly swiped a cellphone from a Hicks Street hospital patient’s bedside table on Dec. 21.
The victim told cops she was in her room at the medical center near Atlantic Avenue at 7:30 am when she saw the suspect snag her mobile phone and leave.
Another patient, who had the victim’s cell number, dialed the phone at around 8:58 am and overheard the phone vibrating in the suspect’s hospital room, according to cops. The saavy-thinking man then found the phone in the suspect’s drawer.
Police say the suspect confessed that he did steal the phone, and cops found an insurance medical card bearing the victim’s name in his pants pocket, according to documents from the District Attorney’s office.
