Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of East Flatbush offers the Home Maintenance Training Program, a 10-week comprehensive program designed to provide “hands on” training and competency in most phases of home repairs and maintenance.
The course, offered twice a year in the fall and spring, is open to homeowners and residents who are 18 years of age or older. Classes, which being Classes begin September 8 and 10, are held from 6-9 p.m. at Washington Mutual Bank, 1462 Nostrand Avenue on the corner of Church Avenue.
The training course — in existence at the East Flatbush office for more than 10 years — offers classes in plumbing, heating, electrical, plastering, wood framing, sanding, grouting light fixtures.
Individuals participating in the classes are encouraged to develop the positive attitude necessary to keep their homes in good condition by doing their own home repairs or by contracting repair services which they can supervise.
