Cops arrested a Brooklyn man Friday, months after he allegedly killed a man and stored his dismembered body in the fridge and freezer of his East Flatbush apartment.
The defendant, 45-year-old Nicholas McGee, was walked out of the 67th Precinct in handcuffs after he was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. He was reportedly extradited to New York City from Virginia earlier this week, where he was being held on charges of fraud.
McGee is accused of killing 39-year-old Kawsheen Gelzer during a dispute in the spring of 2022, then cutting up his body and stashing it in his fridge and freezer for nearly two years. Police discovered Gelzer’s body in the apartment in January after receiving an anonymous tip.
The New York Post reported that Gelzer was a drug dealer and a sex offender who was sleeping on McGee’s couch at the time of his murder. McGee’s wife, Heather Stines, was still living in the apartment when the body was discovered – and reportedly tried to prevent police from accessing the refrigerator, which police said was taped up — presumably to keep in the smell of decomposition.
Stines was arrested days after the grisly discovery and charged with concealment of a human corpse, hindering prosecution, and tampering with physical evidence, per court documents. She pleaded not guilty to all three charges, and is next expected in court next month.
McGee allegedly confessed to Gelzer’s murder during an interview with investigators in February. He was slated to appear in court on Friday afternoon, though information about his arraignment was not yet available online.
