Cops arrested a 63-year-old bodega employee after he allegedly hospitalized a co-worker at a Boerum Hill store on April 27.
According to the 38-year-old victim, he was working the morning shift at the Nevins Street store when his co-worker entered at around 9 a.m. wielding a baseball bat.
“What are you going to do with the bat, are you going to hit me with it?” the victim said before he was struck in the leg. His co-worker then allegedly continued to punch him about the head, before leaving the store, according to a police report shared with Brooklyn Paper.
Emergency Medical Services transferred the victim to NYU Langone Health-Cobble Hill Emergency Department for treatment, while patrolling cops arrested the alleged assailant a couple of blocks from the bodega.
Reports of felony assault are up more than 22% year-to-date in Boerum Hill’s 84th Precinct, where the at-work attack occurred, according to Police Department data. As of April 28, when the most recent data is available, there were 102 reported incidents in the precinct so far this year — up from 83 reported during the same time last year.
