Caribbean Literary Festival: The Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival kicks off with a visit from Elizabeth “Lady” Montano, mother of soca music icon Machel Montano and author of “King of Soca,” a new biography of Machel. Montano will discuss the book, the genre and Machel with scholar Attilah Springer.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road: Narrows Community Theater presents its 2022 Summer Youth production, “The Wizard of Oz,” the classic story of Dorothy and the magical land of Oz. Sept. 9, with shows through Sept. 18.

Back-to-school circus: Not thrilled about the beginning of the school year? Relax after the first few days in class with the Bindlestiff Family Circus’s Flatbed Follies as they perform their fun, joyful shows on a mobile stage made of a parade float, complete with authentic circus music.
Free. 12-2 p.m. at Albee Square, 551 Fulton St. at the corner of Fulton and Bond streets in Downtown Brooklyn.
Go back in history: More than 23,000 men were killed, injured, or missing after the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest day in the American Civil War. Learn about some of the 27 soldiers who fought in that battle who are buried at Green-Wood Cemetery with Green-Wood historian Jeff Richman and writer and Civil War reenactor Matt Dellinger. Wear suitable footwear for grassy and uneven terrain.
