Bramson ORT’s new Extension Center opens in B’hurst

Just add property owner to Bramson O.R.T.’s resume.

The undergraduate college celebrated the opening of its new Extension Center in Bensonhurst with a ribbon-cutting on Friday, hailing its move from a leased building on 59th Street and 20th Avenue to the one it now owns at 8109 Bay Pkwy. between 81st and 82nd streets.

Smiling faculty, an iced cake and a giant pair of scissors did the honors for the renovated eight-story facility, boasting state-of-the art classrooms, computer and medical laboratories, and up-to-the-minute technology.

There are also two new programs on the books, Game Design, and Programming and Renewable Energy, in addition to old career staples such as Accounting, Business Management and Medical Assistant, and a full roster of student services, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic and Career Advisement, plus on-the-spot testing and registration.

“We are now happily a permanent site in Brooklyn,” said Vera Brenner, an Admissions advisor.

Bramson is operated by O.R.T. America and the American branch of the Jewish charity, World O.R.T., founded in Tsarist Russia in 1880. The name “O.R.T.” was coined from the acronym of the Russian words Obshestvo Remeslenofo zemledelcheskofo Truda, meaning The Society for Trades and Agricultural Labor.
