Prospect Park became a verdant platform for borough peaceniks, who joined a cavalcade of speakers and performers at the band shell to spread the good word as part of an international peace vigil.
The vigil packed the emerald empire with dancers, musicians and spoken word artists, who shared the spotlight with visitors to celebrate the annual call for solidarity.
The local observance marked a 2001 United Nations’ resolution, designating September 21 as an “International Day of Peace,” and featured a cornucopia of crowd-pleasers; among them, children’s choirs, art exhibits, poetry and an interfaith prayer.
